Axion Dynamix AI IDE In build
A native macOS editor (Rust, GPU-rendered) whose coding agent — Code Agent X — is hierarchical: a three-agent council deliberates before anything is edited. The first native Apple-silicon release build compiled on 5 October 2026; the agent panel, splash screen and installer are being built on top of it.
How Code Agent X works
- Council. Strategist, Researcher and Architect each read the task, the repository's
AGENTS.md(orCLAUDE.md) and the capability bundle routed by the AI OS. They gather evidence (workspace search, online research), deliberate in rounds, may object, and ratify a blueprint. Unresolved objections are recorded as dissent, not hidden. - Implementer. Executes the blueprint step by step. Every edit is proposed as a diff you approve or reject; nothing is written until you accept. Commands run without a shell in untrusted mode against a read-only allow-list, with output caps and process-group timeouts.
- Verifier. Re-runs your tests on fresh output and either passes the work or escalates back to the council with the failure.
Entitlement and the paywall
The IDE signs in with your Axion Dynamix account (the same login as this site). It asks the store for your subscription status, caches the answer and keeps working offline for seven days; the paywall has four states — Active, Renewing, Grace, Locked. Locked permits only the paywall, subscription management, data export and diagnostics. There are no licence files and no signing keys to manage.
Providers and models
Add any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (OpenAI, NVIDIA NIM, Groq, Together, vLLM, LM Studio…), Anthropic, Ollama, or a custom URL in Providers. Each role — council, implementer, verifier — picks a provider and a model; the model list is read live from the endpoint. Keys are stored as macOS Keychain items and referenced by name in ~/.hermes/axion/providers.json; they are never written to that file or sent to Axion Dynamix. Reasoning deltas (reasoning_content / thinking blocks) are rendered as thinking cards. The same registry is shared with the AI OS router, so a provider added in either product is available in both.
Status, honestly
| Component | Status | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Native Apple-silicon release build of the editor | Shipped | built 2026-10-05, 513 crates |
| Agent core: council → implementer → verifier, paywall, diff-reviewed tools, AGENTS.md, AI OS bridge, research | Shipped | 30 tests |
| Bring-your-own provider client (OpenAI-compatible, Anthropic, Ollama, custom) with Keychain keys | Shipped | providers.rs — 5 tests (SSE parsers for all three dialects, Keychain-only key refs, role fallback) |
| Account sign-in and subscription check with 7-day offline cache | Shipped | account.rs + paywall.rs — 6 tests; store side verified live with a probe account |
| Code Agent X panel in the editor, splash, Providers and Account panes | In build | built 2026-10-06 (67.9 MB, panel tests 5/5); a human window launch is the remaining check |
| App icon, ad-hoc-signed hardened .pkg with SHA-256, download page | In build | app ad-hoc signed with hardened runtime (verified); pkg pipeline written — the package is produced on the release Mac, then published here |
| IDE subscription plans in the store | In build | prices proposed |
| Windows and Linux builds | Planned | Linux agent-core tests already pass |
